Comparing two wedding quotes: what to really look at

Two quotes can show very different prices while offering similar services, or the opposite. To compare correctly, you need to look at what lies behind the total.

Check the scope

Note what is included: service duration, equipment, delivery, installation, travel, touch-ups, the provider's meals or overtime hours.

Compare the same needs

Ask for comparable proposals. A quote for three hours of service cannot be directly compared to one covering the whole day.

Look at additional fees

Transport, delivery, setup, teardown and overtime can change the final price. Ask how these items are charged.

Read the terms

Look at the deposit, payment schedule, cancellation terms, postponement policies and replacement arrangements when the provider ultimately cannot provide the service.

Keep a record of communications

Any important promise should ideally appear in the quote or the final contract. A verbal exchange is difficult to verify several months later.
