First meeting with a wedding vendor: 15 questions to ask

By Admin·

A first meeting is not only to find out whether the vendor is friendly. It allows you to check their availability, how they operate, and whether their offer matches your wedding.

Essential questions

Ask in particular: are you available on that date? What does your service include? How long does it last? What additional fees are charged? How does the deposit work? When is the balance due? What happens in case of cancellation or postponement? Who will be present on the wedding day?

For certain professions, add specific questions: backup equipment for the DJ, a weather backup plan for the photographer, tasting and service for the caterer, setup and breakdown for the decoration.

Ask for comparable examples

A portfolio is not always enough. Ask for examples similar to your number of guests, your venue, or the style you're looking for.

Check communication

Ask when you will receive the next information and by what means. Good organization before the wedding is already a useful indicator.

Don't decide everything at the first meeting

You can take the time to compare several offers. Note your impressions immediately after each meeting.

Frequently asked questions

How many vendors should you meet?

It depends on the profession, but comparing two or three offers can already reveal the major differences.

Should you ask for a contract before booking?

Yes. Read the terms before paying a deposit.
